KTZ Dance

KTZ Dance School was first born in 2007. It all began when I was choreographing some routines for the local amateur dramatics youth group – Buddies. Quite a few students approached me about maybe doing dance lessons outside of the theatre group. We started off with a few students on a Friday evening before rehearsals began and this grew to a few more and eventually we had over 40 students rehearsing every Friday in a local church hall in Clayton Le Moors. From this we began to develop and branch out trying new styles bringing in Ballet & Musical Theatre on a Wednesday evening. These proved popular and as students developed their confidence and abilities we introduced Street dance onto the timetable.

With this in mind, I sent a letter to every single primary and secondary school in Hyndburn & Ribble Valley. One after school club, lead to another and so on. From this more and more students from the schools started to join extra classes with us in the evenings.

Over the first year we just did our lessons week in and week out but I wanted to bring something into the school for the parents to see what talent their children have. We started rehearsing for our first summer showcase. This one showcase developed into 2 a year that then developed into an annual awards ceremony where students can be awarded trophies, medals and certificates for their personal and group achievements throughout the dance year.

In September 2012 KTZ Dance got their very own studio that wasn’t shared by anyone else. We had previously moved 3 times! It was equipped with 1 fully functioning dance studio. Over the past 9 years we have had a building that is fully functional and a big space for a dance studio, but it wasn’t the dream.

This year we have turned those dreams into reality. From September 2021 we will have 3 fully functioning dance studios with le mark flooring, sound systems, lighting systems and heating. View points all around for parents.

A brand new reception area will be fitted with screens for parents to view our information, telephone line for any enquiries and wifi. Our very own dance shop with all of our dancewear and shoes stocked will also be housed.

Moving along past the reception you will encounter a communal space with WC and refreshment areas with seats all the way around for students and any parents to wait. Just before you get to our studios, 2 brand new changing areas complete with the perfect light up diva mirrors and store rooms for staff.

So many exciting things are now opening up for us here at Ktz, from small acorns a big Oak tree has formed and we cant wait to share it all with you.
